Opening: "Annie" may be a musical warhorse -- even the 1998 rap sample by Jay-Z is now old in the music world -- but it's new to the 45-year-old Children's Theatre. Director Peter Rothstein dusts off the optimistic "Tomorrow"-looking comic book musical about a cute mophead who finds her Daddy Warbucks after leading "A Hard Knock Life." Guthrie regular Lee Mark Nelson makes his Children's Theatre debut as Daddy Warbucks in a cast that includes actors Teri Parker-Brown as his kind assistant Grace and Angela Timberman as hard-drinking, children-hating orphanage mistress Miss Hannigan. The title character is played by Megan Fisher (center, with Panu Yang, left, and Jade Mone Stumon). (Previews 7 p.m. Tue.-Thu., opens 7:30 p.m. Fri., 2 & 7:30 p.m. Sat., 2 & 5 p.m. next Sun. $16-$40. Ends June 12. Children's Theatre Company, 2400 3rd Av. S., Mpls. 612-874-0400 or www.childrenstheatre.org.)
