'A Midsummer Night's Dream'

Opening: This is the first production in the new year for the Guthrie Theater. As Joe Dowling winds down his last six months as director of the theater, he is bringing back a title that he has staged twice before. Previous productions — the last one in 2008 — have been well received. Dowling is working with David Bolger on this effort. Bolger mounted "H.M.S. Pinafore" at the Guthrie a few summers back. This year's "Midsummer" includes youngsters (from left) Christina Acosta Robinson, Tyler Michaels and Nike Kadri. The production is in previews, ahead of an official opening Friday. (7:30 p.m. Tue.-Sat., 7 p.m. next Sun. Guthrie Theater, 818 S. 2nd St., Mpls. $15-$100. 612-377-2224, www.guthrietheater.org.)
