'42ND STREET'

Opening: "Come and meet/those dancing feet/on the avenue/I'm taking you to -- 42nd Street." The musical, by composer Al Dublin and lyricist Harry Warren, is as famous for its music and thunderous tap-dancing as it is for its size. Ivey Award-winning choreographer and director Michael Matthew Ferrell may be up to the challenge. He has gathered a crackerjack cast to put on this show about Peggy (Larissa Gritti, with Michael Fischetti), a girl from the sticks who comes to the big city to find stardom. Although shy and unaware of her strengths, Peggy unexpectedly makes it big. (7:30 p.m. Fri.-Sat., 2 p.m. next Sun. $23-$30. Ends Sept. 16. Bloomington Civic Theatre, 1800 W. Old Shakopee Rd., Bloomington. 952-563-8575 or www.bloomingtoncivictheatre.org.)
