Q I'd like to get into the autumn spirit by wearing a bit of orange. How can I do it tastefully?

A It's not all that easy to look tasteful when wearing a color so bold and so inextricably tied to pumpkins and caution signs.

Here are some suggestions: Layer orange under something more neutral and show just a bit of color. Go for a flirty accent such as orange polish on your fingers or, even better, your toes. Orange makes an excellent accent color, so pick up an accessory -- jewelry, a purse, gloves or a belt -- in the seasonal hue.

If you've got a yen for orange but don't need to share it with the world, indulge yourself in secret with orange underwear.

And never, under any circumstances, wear orange pants.
