Fool's gold There was exciting news everywhere we looked this week: Christian Bale and Brandon Routh reprising their roles as Batman and Superman in "Justice League of America," joined by Jake Gyllenhaal as Spider-Man; the "Cloverfield" monster putting in an appearance in "Transformers 2"; the "Iron Man" release date being moved from May 2 to later this month. The most intriguing tidbit had Daniel Day-Lewis starring in Peter Weir's remake of Werner Herzog's "Fitzcarraldo," set 50 years hence, with a soundtrack by Mick Jagger. All this info breathlessly announced on one day ... one April Fool's Day.

The final reel Paul Rudd and Jason Segel star in the (non-Apatow!) comedy "I Love You, Man," about a guy going on "man dates" to find a best man for his wedding. ... Christopher Plummer and Helen Mirren are replacing Anthony Hopkins and Meryl Streep as Leo Tolstoy and his wife, Sofia, in "The Last Station." James Mc-Avoy and Paul Giamatti also star. ... Brad Pitt is set to produce and star in "The Lost City of Z," an Indiana Jones-style adventure. ... The screenwriting team behind the "Pirates of the Caribbean" franchise is wrapping up a "Lone Ranger" script for Disney. ... Killer role: Lindsay Lohan will play Nancy Pitman, one of the "Manson Girls." ... Kevin Kline will go Gallic as a French-speaking doctor in in the thriller "Joueuse (Queen to Play)." ... Steve Martin and Diane Keaton are reuniting for the family comedy "One Big Happy." ... Matt Damon will play an agribusiness insider in Steven Soderbergh's "The Informant," which thankfully is billed as "darkly comic." ... Damon also has enlisted for "Bourne Ultimatum" director Paul Greengrass' untitled Iraq war movie, also starring Amy Ryan and Greg Kinnear. ... Ben Stiller has been anointed to star in the adaptation of the graphic novel "The Return of King Doug."
