Learn about horticulture therapy and bring home a winter-themed container. Owner Heidi Heiland will give tips on fashioning spruce-top containers and window boxes, wreaths and centerpieces and talk about the healing and calming effects of horticulture. The workshop is from noon to 8 p.m. Nov. 16 and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 17 at Heidi's Lifestyle Gardens, 7241 County Road 116, Corcoran. Cost is $20 and includes a bag of potting soil, packing peanuts, liners and instructional materials. You can bring your own container or buy one. Call 763-475-4960 to reserve a time.

Ikebana Show In Japan, unique floral arrangements called Ikebana are used as decorations and considered exquisite art objects. Stop by the Bonsai Gallery in the Marjorie McNeely Conservatory to admire displays of Ikebana using flowers, foliage and autumn berries. The free show is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Sun., 1225 Estabrook Dr., St. Paul. Call 651-487-8201.

Welcoming wreaths Do you prefer natural, traditional or glitzy decorations? You can pick one of these themes to create a customized fresh wreath from seasonal greens and other materials. Bachman's experts will also offer design tips at the Holiday Wreath workshop, 2 to 4 p.m. Sat. in Bachman's Garden Greenhouse, 6010 Lyndale Av. S., Mpls. Cost is $50 and includes supplies.
