Fairy-size

Miniature gardens are so popular that Bachman's created a fairy-garden-themed room in the Spring Ideas House opening April 4. Learn how to design a mini-scape at a Bachman's workshop covering topics such as appropriate plants, accessories and care tips. The workshop is from 2 to 4 p.m. April 6 at Bachman's, 6010 Lyndale Av. East metro H&G show

Get a head start on your upcoming projects at the Stillwater Home and Garden Show, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Rutherford Elementary, 115 Rutherford Rd., Stillwater. The free show features more than 80 booths, prize drawings and kids' activities. For information, call 651-439-4001.

Used books and more

You never know what kind of used garden books you'll find at the Terrace Horticultural Books spring open house, March 23-30, 503 St. Clair Av., St. Paul. Fruit tree how-to

Fruit tree owners can get hands-on experience and learn how to maintain the health of their trees at a Fruit Tree Pruning workshop from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sat. at Dodge Nature Center, 365 W. Marie Av., West St. Paul. It covers optimal fruit production and tree longevity, maintenance minimization, ease of harvest and pesticide applications.
