Winter is the best time to start planning your spring garden. The Minnesota Landscape Arboretum offers a wide variety of horticulture classes on topics such as working with seeds, growing a sustainable landscape and choosing native perennials. Classes meet on Saturdays beginning Jan. 26 at the arboretum, 3675 Arboretum Dr., Chaska. Cost is $50 per class; $38 for members. Save on the cost when you bundle a series. Touch of the tropics Create a tropical floral arrangement to brighten your winter-weary home at Bachman's Floral Design Workshop, 2 to 4 p.m. Jan. 19, 6010 Lyndale Av. S., Mpls.
