Spring has sprung

You don't need to wait until May for an infusion of fragrant spring blooms. The Marjorie McNeely Conservatory's Spring Flower Show is bursting with vibrantly colored tulips, hyacinth, Asiatic lilies, bearded iris, allium and crocus, as well as Arizona, a magenta hyrdrangea variety, through April 28. The live concert series Music Under Glass presents its last performance from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Sunday. The conservatory, at 1225 Estabrook Dr. in St Paul, is open daily at 10 a.m. Admission is free, but donations are welcomed. Call 651-487-8200.

Veggie growing basics

Get ready for veggie growing season with free Gertens workshops on April 6. "Potatoes and Onions" will be at 10 a.m., "Cool Weather Vegetables" at noon and "Tomatoes and Peppers" at 2 p.m. Gertens is at 5500 Blaine Av., Inver Grove Heights. Call 651-450-1501.

Garden hubs

Want to connect with other gardeners in your community? The Local Food Resource Hubs program offers classes, networking, supplies, seeds and plants to grow, preserve and cook fresh produce. Gardeners and community organizations can join the seven hubs throughout Minneapolis and St. Paul. Memberships start at $10. To sign up, go to www.gardeningmatters.org/hubs or call 612-821-2358.
