Next Club Book season sees lots of local writers and two notable national writers.

The summer-fall season of Club Book features lots of local writers, as well as a couple of big names from elsewhere. Pulitzer Prize-winner Isabel Wilkerson will talk about "The Warmth of Other Suns," and Alexander McCall Smith, whose last planned visit here was canceled when volcanic ash grounded his plane, will talk about the latest installment in the "No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency" series.

Also in the lineup are Brenda Child, Mark Rosen, Larry Millett, Jonathan Odell, David Walsh and the lead singer of the Decemberists, Colin Meloy, and his wife, Carson Ellis.

Here's the schedule:

Millett: 7 p.m. June 11, Shakopee Library.

Smith: 7 p.m. June 19, Central Park Amphitheater, Woodbury.

Wilkerson: 7 p.m. June 26, Galaxie Library, Apple Valley, and 7 p.m. June 27, Brookdale Library, Brooklyn Center.

Rosen: 1 p.m. Aug. 4, Chanhassen Public Library.

Odell: 2 p.m. Aug. 18, Rum River Library, Anoka.

Child: 7 p.m. Sept. 12, Highland Park Library, St. Paul.

Meloy and Ellis: 7 p.m. Oct. 2, Roseville Library.

Walsh: 7 p.m. Oct. 18, Mraz Performing Arts Center, Burnsville, and 7 p.m. Oct. 24, Southdale Library, Edina.

Club Book is a free author series sponsored by the Metropolitan Library Service Agency.

Also ...

"Books in Bloom," an exhibit inspired by the Minneapolis Institute of Art's annual "Art in Bloom," will be on display Friday, Saturday and next Sunday in the library of Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minn. Last year, 22 floral arrangements were displayed representing 22 different books. This year there will be 30 arrangements, and local authors will autograph books beginning at 11:30 a.m. Saturday.

• "Lizz Free or Die," by Lizz Winstead, will be published in May by Riverhead Books. Winstead, a native Minnesotan, is a former head writer of "The Daily Show With Jon Stewart." She'll be at Magers & Quinn at 7:30 p.m. May 21.

Julie Schumacher's "The Unbearable Book Club for Unsinkable Girls," has been published by Delacorte Books. She'll read at 7 p.m. May 8 at Common Good Books in St. Paul, and at 6:30 p.m. May 17 at the Chanhassen Public Library as part of Club Book.

In this photo taken Monday, March 6, 2017, in San Francisco, released confidential files by The University of California of a sexual misconduct case, like this one against UC Santa Cruz Latin Studies professor Hector Perla is shown. Perla was accused of raping a student during a wine-tasting outing in June 2015. Some of the files are so heavily redacted that on many pages no words are visible. Perla is one of 113 UC employees found to have violated the system's sexual misconduct policies in rece
