Age: Turned 57 last Tuesday.
Former team: St. Cloud State for 13 years (276-192-49 record, 25-9-6 in 2017-18). His Huskies were the NCAA tournament's No. 1 overall seed this season but were upset by Air Force 4-1 in their first game. Motzko led St. Cloud State to eight NCAA tournaments.
Gophers ties: Motzko was an assistant under former coach Don Lucia from 2001 to '05, and Minnesota won NCAA titles in 2002 and '03. The Gophers haven't been national champs since he left.
