The $99 Sale

Tonight: Never drop a good idea. This is one of those too-good-to-pass-up opportunities to snap up some tasty art at a price affordable even to bargain hunters and stock-market evacuees. The Soap has done this before and it works. Here's the deal: More than 230 local and national artists have donated same-size original art (bigger than a matchbook, smaller than a breadbox). Artists' names are on the back and can't be seen until the work is purchased. Each piece sells for $99. Proceeds go to support the nonprofit Soap Factory. This year's artists include Mica Lee Anders, Rod Massey, Leonard Parker, Cesar Pelli, Molly Roth, Alec Soth, Zac Stafford and Caroline Woodruff. (Preview party and sale, 7-10 p.m. today, $35. Sale 9 a.m.-noon Saturday, free. Soap Factory, 518 SE. 2nd St., Mpls. Enter via loading dock. 612-623-9176 or www.soapfactory.org.)
