That was Daft Punk behind Kanye

Those two guys in "Tron" gear performing behind Kanye West during the highlight performance of last Sunday's Grammy Awards weren't just some schmoes standing there as props. They were Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, better known as the French electronic duo Daft Punk, whose 2001 track "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger" was the cornerstone sample for Kanye's Grammy-nominated hit "Stronger." (This was Daft Punk's first U.S. TV performance.) The original version of the dance-club hit, from the fan-loved album "Discover," is a bit kitschy in an '80s video-game sort of way. A much more riveting and energetic mix is featured on last year's live CD "Alive 2007," where it's paired up as one track with another Daft Punk standard, "Around the World."
