Good times.

Joe Mauer went 3-for-4 in Game 1 of today's day-night doubleheader. That's good. All three of the hits were singles. At face value, that's not so bad. Big picture, though, it's starting to get a little more than troubling. Mauer is slugging .315 this season. The guy is hardly a power hitter, but his career slugging mark is .474.

We ran the numbers, and dating back to last season Mauer has 1 home run in his last 235 at bats -- and none, obviously, in 127 at bats so far this season.

For a while, the rust factor from the DL trip was a viable explanation. But he's been back for a month now. It would be nice to see Mauer take one deep.

We invite your best guess -- heck, even tonight! -- as to when that might happen. Perhaps the winner will even get some sort of excellent prize.

The Gophers played with more urgency, but it wasn’t enough to keep them from another conference sweep, and they lost LJ Mooney to injury in the process.
