A tenants rights workshop is scheduled for Oct. 23 in Minneapolis.

The day-long workshop, which lasts from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., is targeted for tenants, housing advocates and anyone else who wants to learn about their legal rights once they sign a lease, according to organizer, Becky Cole.

Featured speakers include Andrew Dawkins a lawyer and former member of the legislature, who served as director of St. Paul's Neighborhood Improvement Department under ex-Mayor Randy Kelly. Other speakers include Spencer Blaw, a consultant on landlord tenant law, affordable housing, and discrimination-free housing, and Peter Brown, past president of the Minnesota chapter of the National Lawyers Guild, and a board member of the Minnesota Tenants Union.

The cost of the workshop is $25 before Oct. 15 and $35 after. The workshop will be held at Joule, 1200 Washington Ave. S. For more information, call 612-567-3630.
