TCTOD: Newbie on karma and "the catch"

Did Favre to Lewis really do all that?

Newbie checks in with some thoughts for you to chew on. Newbie?

----------------------------

Often times in sports, there is one game that is looked back on as the turning point. One moment that turns the course of a season. One play that can define a team.

But for Minnesota fans that one play changed the course of our local sports. One play that took a team 3 games down with 4 to play all the way to a division title. One play that took a team down three goals to start the third period to become overtime winners of a home opener. One play that has changed what we thought we knew about Minnesota teams -- how they always put up a fight, get close, and walk away with a "moral" victory to a team that you can rest assured will get the job done and ensure that you will have seen the greatest game they can play that night.

Yes ladies and gentleman, the Favre/Lewis connection was that important. No longer will we sit and watch the Tigers celebrate a division championship because Alexi Casilla didn't tag up in time. No longer will we watch the Wild settle for a tie or a shootout win. No longer will we watch the Vikings play down to an opponent and eke out a victory. No longer, folks. No longer.

I am reminded of that commercial (can't remember what is was for) where several iconic moments in sports could have gone differently if those last second plays went differently. Now our teams can be part of those commercials. Our teams can be on the winning end of last second heroics. Let us all take a moment to thank Brett Favre for changing the landscape of sports in our humble state. And let us thank Brad Childress for bringing him here.

The Gophers played with more urgency, but it wasn’t enough to keep them from another conference sweep, and they lost LJ Mooney to injury in the process.
