Aldridge, former D-Leaguer keep Spurs perfect at home
SAN ANTONIO – LaMarcus Aldridge scored 23 points, and the San Antonio Spurs received an early spark from Jonathon Simmons to beat the Dallas Mavericks 112-83 on Sunday night and remain undefeated (24-0) at home.
But San Antonio lost guard Tony Parker late in the third quarter to right hip soreness. The injury forced Parker to miss two games at the beginning of the month.
Simmons finished with 14 points on 5-for-7 shooting, hitting both three-pointers and both free throws. He played the past two seasons for the Spurs' Development League team in Austin.
•ANOTHER TRIPLE-DOUBLE: Russell Westbrook had his second consecutive triple-double (13 points, 15 rebounds, 10 assists) for the Thunder in a 99-74 victory over the visiting Heat. Dwyane Wade led Miami with 22 points on his 34th birthday.
•BAD NEWS FOR BARNES: The NBA fined Memphis' Matt Barnes $35,000 for "inappropriate public comments." According to Newsday, Barnes, who was suspended earlier this season for an altercation with Knicks coach Derek Fisher, said at a pregame shootaround, "Violence is never the answer, but sometimes it is."
•BIG PACERS WIN: Randy Foye hit a go-ahead three-pointer with 21 seconds left for the host Nuggets in a 129-126 victory over the Pacers.
