Pittsburgh Pirates pitchers Joe Musgrove and Steven Brault did San Diego's Grossmont High School proud over the weekend.

One day after Brault (Grossmont class of 2010) was the winning pitcher in relief in a 7-2 victory over the Padres at Petco Field, Musgrove (Grossmont class of 2011) earned the victory in a 6-4 win after taking a one-hit shutout into the seventh inning.

Colin Moran hit a three-run homer for the Pirates, who took three of four games in the series.

"We had our coaches out there today and a lot of family and friends from the area," said Musgrove, who is 2-0 against the Padres after also beating them at Petco last season. "For me and him to both snag wins in San Diego is pretty cool. I think everyone out there is pretty proud of Grossmont."

After a 26-minute rain delay, Moran's homer off rookie Cal Quantrill with two outs in the first inning helped stake Musgrove to a 4-0 lead before he threw a pitch.

Philadelphia 7, Colorado 5: Bryce Harper homered for the second straight day and pinch-hitter J.T. Realmuto also went deep, helping the Phillies complete a three-game home sweep. Ryan McMahon homered twice for the Rockies.

Milwaukee 3, Atlanta 2 (10): Ben Gamel homered leading off the 10th for the visiting Brewers. Christian Yelich hit his 19th homer for Milwaukee.

San Francisco 3, Arizona 2 (10): Pablo Sandoval opened the 10th with a pinch-hit homer for the Giants. With a runner on third and two outs in the ninth, Giants shortstop Brandon Crawford made a diving stop and threw out Adam Jones by a step at first base.

Los Angeles 8, Cincinnati 3: Hyun-Jin Ryu extended his scoreless innings streak to 31 and Cody Bellinger hit his 17th homer for the visiting Dodgers. Ryu (6-1) lowered his ERA to an NL-best 1.52.

Miami 3, New York 0: A day after being shut out on one hit by the Marlins, the visiting Mets were blanked on two hits for their fifth loss in a row. Sandy Alcantara needed just 89 pitches to outduel Noah Syndergaard.

Chicago 6, Washington 5: Anthony Rizzo homered and Albert Almora Jr. had three hits for the visiting Cubs, who improved to 10-1-1 in their past 12 series. Steve Cishek pitched 2 ⅓ scoreless innings for his fourth save after the Nationals scored four times to pull within one run.

American League

New York 13, Tampa Bay 5: Rookie Thairo Estrada had a pinch-hit, three-run double in a seven-run sixth inning for the host Yankees, who took two of three from the Rays. Aaron Hicks homered for the first time since returning from a back injury, and Chance Adams threw three shutout innings for his first career save. Adams was then sent back to Class AAA.

Boston 4, Houston 3: Rookie Michael Chavis, batting leadoff for the first time, went 2-for-4 with a home run and Xander Bogaerts hit a tiebreaking double in the seventh as the host Red Sox ended the Astros' 10-game winning streak. Boston's Chris Sale struck out 10 in 5 ⅓ innings in his first start since striking out 17 in seven innings.

Cleveland 10, Baltimore 0: Shane Bieber struck out a career-high 15 for the host Indians in his first major league complete game.

Kansas City 5, Los Angeles 1: Danny Duffy won his third straight start and the visiting Royals stopped a four-game losing streak.

Toronto 5, Chicago 2: Vladimir Guerrero Jr. hit his fourth homer in six games for the visiting Blue Jays.

Interleague

Texas 5, St. Louis 4 (10): Former Twin Danny Santana hit a pinch-hit home run in the eighth and scored the winning run in the Rangers' two-run 10th.

Notes

• The Athletics were leading the Tigers 5-3 when the game was suspended after 6 ½ innings due to inclement weather in Detroit. The game will be resumed when the Tigers visits Oakland on Sept. 6.
