Sunday Insider: Fourth-and-five

December 26, 2010 at 5:41AM

Three observations ... • Twenty of the league's 32 teams still have Super Bowl XLV as a mathematical goal. Even the 49ers (5-9) have a scenario in which they can win the NFC West at 7-9. San Francisco is 5-4 since starting 0-5.

• Seven of the league's eight divisions are led or co-led by teams that didn't win their divisions last year. That would be the most new division winners since realignment in 2002. Two have clinched (Chicago, Atlanta).

• The Patriots are a league-best plus-20 in turnover differential and have not turned the ball over in an NFL-record six consecutive games.

Two predictions • Michael Vick will outrush Adrian Peterson while topping 100 yards in a rout of the Vikings.

• After clinching their first NFC North title since 2006, the Bears will let up and lose at home to the Jets.
