BONNIE MARSHALL

43, vice president of development for the American Composers Forum

Seen at: An art opening at Umber Studios in Minneapolis.

What are you wearing? Vintage coat and red velvet clutch from Arc's Value Village, wool wrap from Bloomingdale's, Banana Republic jeans, boots by Nine West.

Describe your style: Rhoda Morgenstern meets Auntie Mame.

What coat trends are you seeing this season? I see a lot of military and puffy coats, mostly in a sea of black. That is why I like vintage and colorful coats.

Do you select a coat based on style or its warmth? Subzero temperatures demand warmth. If the coat is also a standout, that's a bonus. Living in Minnesota, I feel that it's OK to own many coats. We earn it.

How do you break out of the winter doldrums? Great art. Reading "Just Kids" by Patti Smith, listening to the Bad Plus at the Dakota, attending art openings with friends.
