Twin Cities don't even rank

It's bitter cold outside, no doubt. But which city is the coziest?

The makers of Honeywell Infrared Heaters have listed the Top 10 Coziest U.S. Cities in a recent survey, and guess what? We're not on it.

In fact, the survey found that the Boston/Cambridge area is the coziest. (See the full list below.) "Cozy" is defined as a city's "overall comfort, ambiance and accessibility." It's unclear how exactly the data were compiled for this finding.

The study was commission by Honeywell in partnership with a team of scientists at the consulting company Environmental Health & Engineering.

According to Dr. Ted Myatt, of Environmental Health & Engineering, "We looked at criteria ranging from fireplace and portable heaters usage, access to parks, and overall walkability to restaurants and coffee shops per capita, stressful lifestyle scores and historical ambiance."

Hmm. Here's the list:

1. Boston/Cambridge, Mass.

2. San Francisco, Calif.

3. Santa Fe, N.M.

4. Washington, D.C.

5. Portland, Ore.

6. Seattle, Wash.

7. Baltimore, Md.

8. Providence, R.I.

9. New Orleans, La.

10. Savannah, Ga.
