Chris Streveler will be a redshirt junior this fall for the Gophers, a former quarterback who's still working to make his mark as a college football player.

He remains one of the best all-around athletes on the squad, with impressive speed and strength to go with his 6-2, 223-pound frame.

Heading into their first spring practice today, the Gophers QB depth chart looks like this: 1) Mitch Leidner; 2) Demry Croft or Seth Green; 4) Conor Rhoda. Leidner is recovering from foot surgery, so those other three quarterbacks will get the reps this spring.

For now, the Gophers have no plans to put Streveler back at quarterback.

"He is going to go work out at wide receiver and see what happens," coach Tracy Claeys said Monday. "We'll visit it again after the spring, but we are going to get him involved at wide receiver and all of the special teams. The kid works hard and is a good athlete and loves the game of football. I think we can find a place for him, so for us in the spring and for him, that's what we are going to try to do in the spring. Then we will talk after the spring to see how comfortable he is."
