An 83-year-old man has been identified as the driver who was killed in a three-vehicle crash last week at a busy Eden Prairie intersection.
Peter F. Riehle, of Stillwater, suffered a fatal neck injury in the collision early last Friday afternoon at the intersection of Prairie Center Drive and Technology Drive, the Hennepin County medical examiner's office said Wednesday.
Five other people were in the vehicles. None was injured, but Riehle's wife of 61 years, Elsie A. Riehle, 82, suffered breathing problems after the crash, police said.
The others were identified by police as driver Kyle M. Dahl, 25, of Bloomington, and his passenger, Marika L. Hagenstein, 26, of Bloomington; and driver Gillian C. Miranda, 18, of Eden Prairie, and her passenger, Matthew F. Linsley, 17, of Victoria.
Police declined Thursday to explain the circumstances surrounding the crash, other than a traffic signal pole being struck.
