Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown said Thursday he doesn't want to be traded and admitted he's got to do a better job of limiting distractions.

After Pittsburgh's loss to Kansas City last Sunday, he skipped mandatory meetings on Monday for what he called personal reasons. He also responded to criticism on social media by suggesting the team should trade him if it wants to find out how productive he can be when not playing with quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.

Brown explained his actions by saying he's upset because Pittsburgh (0-1-1) is winless through two games.

"For me, as a Steeler, that's unacceptable," he said. "I'm not on the sideline begging for the ball. … I can't hide the way I feel.

"I'm not that type of guy who's just around here cashing checks and don't care."

Though the team disciplined him for unspecified reasons, Brown said he expects to start Monday's game in Tampa Bay.

Home debut thrills Mahomes

After starting in three road wins — the first last season — Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs will make his first start at Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday, against the San Francisco 49ers. Mahomes said he has thought about it ever since the Chiefs traded up to select him 10th overall last year.

"I'm extremely excited," Mahomes said. "I can't wait to run on the field and hear them roar."

Certainly there will be plenty of noise for Mahomes — he's tossed an NFL-record 10 touchdown passes in the first two games of the season.

"I understand the excitement," Chiefs coach Andy Reid said. "I get it. But when you're in the grinder like he is, like I am — the rest of the team — you don't worry about all that other stuff."

Etc.

• Broncos quarterback Case Keenum returned to practice Thursday after missing a day with a sore knee.

• Giants receiver Odell Beckham is frustrated. "It's actually funny how I 'randomly' get [drug] tested every other week," Beckham tweeted. "Dear @NFL please stop sending these people, ur takin away from meeting times and film... thanks."
