Star Tribune boys' basketball top teams to watch
1. Champlin Park (4A): State's deepest lineup with two legit superstars in Theo John andMcKinley Wright to lead them.
2. Hopkins (4A): No Amir Coffey, but the cupboard (Ishmael El-Amin, Simon Wright, Zeke Nnaji) is far from bare.
3. Maple Grove (4A): If Tywhon Pickford regains post-injury form, the Crimson will be tough to beat.
4. Lakeville North (4A): Is 6-10 forward Nathan Reuvers ready to step forward and be the go-to guy?
5. Apple Valley (4A): Plenty of replacement parts from last year, but Tre Jones can elevate a team.
6. DeLaSalle (3A): Led by Goanar Mar and Gabe Kalscheur, a sixth consecutive 3A title seems imminent.
7. Cretin-Derham Hall (4A): Junior power forward Daniel Oturu is a 6-9 beast on the boards.
8. Tartan (4A): Should have enough talent in reserve to survive the transfer of Jarvis Thomas.
9. Chaska (4A): Terrific backcourt led by Andrew Kallman and Myles Hanson.
10. Minnehaha Academy (2A): Veteran starting lineup, and no seniors. Freshman Jalen Suggs had 42 points in the opener.
Others: Minneapolis North (1A), Woodbury (4A), Lakeville South (4A), Orono (3A)
