The Wolf of Walmart

Opening: The Brave New Workshop calls this their "Fall comedy revue." Wasn't it just the Fourth of July? Ah, the summer wind. Cast regulars Lauren Anderson, Matt Erkel, Bobby Gardner, Tom Reed and Taj Ruler are directed by Caleb and Katy McEwen. The show asks the question, "What if Walmart was in charge of everything?" As if they are not. Peter Guertin returns as music director. (8 p.m. Fri.-Sat., 7:30 p.m. Thu. Ends Nov. 1, 824 Hennepin Av. S., Mpls., $25-$30, 612-332-6620 or bravenewworkshop.com.)

DEATH OF A SALESMAN

Opening: Robert Neu, more familiar as a director of opera and musicals, steps in to stage Arthur Miller's American classic at Bloomington Civic Theatre. What happens when you're used up and you have nothing but regret on which to rest your laurels? Willy Loman knows, and Miller tells the tragedy in urgent, painful language. (7:30 p.m. Fri.-Sat., Wed.-Thu., 2 p.m. Sat. Sun., ends July 27, Black Box theater at BCT, 1800 W. Old Shakopee Rd., $17-$24, 952-563-8575, or btacmn.org.)

WRECK

Opening: Five years after its premiere, Black Label Movement's full-evening dance work, which focuses on the final minutes in the lives of 13 survivors trapped on a sinking Great Lakes ore ship, returns in a new format on the Guthrie Stage. This time the audience will be viewing "Wreck" in the round with a live ensemble playing the Sage Award-winning score by composer Mary Ellen Childs. While the subject matter may be somber, there are many moments of beauty to savor, and Carl Flink's choreographic perspective is built upon the many amazing ways the human body can perform in the most extreme circumstances. (7:30 p.m. Fri.-Sat., 7 p.m. Sun., also 7:30 p.m. July 16-17, 1 p.m. July 19, ends July 20, Guthrie Theater, 818 S. 2nd St., Mpls., $30. 612-377-2224 or guthrietheater.org.)
