YOU'RE A GOOD MAN, CHARLIE BROWN

Opening: Good grief, Charlie is coming to Bloomington Civic Theatre. Joe Chvala will direct and choreograph this little musical based on the "Peanuts" comic strip. Adam Qualls plays the title role, and Tyler Michaels is Snoopy. The show is a series of vignettes and songs that spotlight Charlie, Snoopy, Linus, Lucy, Schroeder and Sally. Chvala has directed "The Light in the Piazza" and "Into the Woods" at Bloomington.

A TALENT TO AMUSE

One show only: Singer/actor Gary Briggle created this "Evening With Nöel Coward." Briggle, a terrific performer, weaves nearly 30 of Coward's songs together with the writer's observations about London and the theater. Briggle fashioned the cabaret show on Coward's Las Vegas act, which revived his career in 1955. The show is free.

          LAY OF THE LAND

Opening: Veteran solo performer Tim Miller gets on his soapbox about gay marriage in his new show. A response to Prop 8 in his home state of California, Miller brings the show in the same year that Minnesota voters will consider a similar amendment to the state's Constitution that would ban gay marriage. The L.A. Times wrote that "Miller lays out his unapologetically renegade viewpoint with exemplary economy and sardonic humor." A Minnesota-specific piece created by Miller and University of Minnesota students is being presented at 4 p.m. Sunday at the U's Rarig Center.
