Stage spotlight: Trey McIntyre Project at Northrop Auditorium

Tuesday: Boise, Idaho, is not known as a dance hotbed in the United States, but the Trey McIntyre Project has certainly raised the city's profile. The troupe — known for giving classical ballet a contemporary twist — is wrapping up its run as a full-time company with a farewell tour, and Northrop is among its stops. The program features the arena-rock-style piece "Mercury Half-Life" set to the iconic anthems of Queen. Another work on the program, "The Vinegar Works: Four Dances of Moral Instruction," draws inspiration from writer/illustrator Edward Gorey, who loved ballet, even though his artistic aesthetic tended toward the dark side.
