Hannah Spaulding’s 28 points on 10-for-12 shooting and 18 rebounds lifted the St. Thomas women’s basketball team over Amherst (Mass.) 61-58 in overtime in a Division III round of 16 game in St. Paul.
The Tommies (28-1) will face No. 10 Wartburg at home Saturday, with the winner advancing to the Division III Final Four in Salem, Va., on March 15-16.
Amherst (25-3) had won the past two Division III titles, going 33-0 both seasons. The Mammoths were led by Madeline Eck’s 26 points and 10 rebounds.

Guilford (N.C.) College 80, St. Thomas 73: The Tommies (24-5) led 39-30 at halftime, but the Quakers (24-7) shot 53.6 percent in the second half to advance in the third round in Oshkosh, Wis. St. Thomas senior Michael Hannon led all scorers with 28 points.
