St. Thomas goalie Alise Riedel stopped 63 shots, but the 64th got past the senior and decided the game.

Plattsburgh State, the No. 1-rated team in NCAA Division III women's hockey, edged the visiting Tommies 1-0 on Friday in overtime at Stafford Arena in the national semifinals.

Allison Era scored the goal on a power play — the home team's third in overtime — at 15:11 of the extra period. Plattsburgh State (27-1-1) was 1-for-7 on the power play, St. Thomas 0-for-2.

The Cardinals, the 2007 and '08 national champions from Plattsburgh, N.Y., outshot the Tommies 64-30. Cardinals goalie Sydney Aveson got her 14th shutout of the season.

No. 6-ranked St. Thomas (20-6-3) will play Wisconsin-River Falls, a 4-2 loser to Norwich (Vt.) in the other semifinal, at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in the third-place game.

• Senior forward Cristina Masten of Bethel and Riedel were named first-team Division III West All-America players.

St. Scholastica juniors Nina Waidacher and Alex Blair, a forward and defenseman, respectively, made the second team.
