Having knocked around the Twin Cities avant art scene for more than 30 years, Richard Brewer and Al Wadzinski decided to cut loose and go populist in this political season. And what could be more populist than Mickey Mouse, wildlife art and an up-to-the-minute portrait of Joe the Plumber? Of course the guys aren't playing it completely straight, so Brewer gives Mickey matador ears in a Picassoesque turn of plexiglass, and decks out a goose in waffle wings and tropical hues right out of a South Beach sunset. Wadzinski's "Toothless Joe" assemblage looks downtrodden -- a victim of trickle-down economics, road rage and malign dentistry.
