'SHREK THE MUSICAL'

Previews Tuesday: Children's Theatre is staging "Shrek the Musical," based on DreamWorks' 2001 film and William Steig's 1990 picture book. Composer Jeanine Tesori and playwright David Lindsay-Abaire teamed up to adapt this fairtytale mashup about a malodorous green ogre who saves a princess in distress. Director Peter Rothstein, whose CTC hits include "Annie" and "The Wizard of Oz," has a cast that includes versatile actor Reed Sigmund as the title character, Autumn Ness (his real-life wife) as Princess Fiona and Ansa Akyea as Shrek's friend Donkey.
