OCEANS

Disney follows up its sprawling 2009 documentary "Earth" with a more dazzling, more on-message movie about the state of the world's seas. "Oceans" (★★★; rated G) shows us vast armies of crabs on the floor of Melbourne harbor, sprinting pods of dolphins stretching to the horizon, an Asian sheepshead wrasse that's an aquatic Jay Leno -- all forehead and chin. Filmed by the directors of "Winged Migration" and narrated by Pierce Brosnan, it warns of the threats posed by pollution, overfishing and simple apathy to this seemingly infinite, seemingly inexhaustible resource. No surprise there. But this is still a movie of marvels, with many images so stunning as to trick the mind into thinking "special effects" -- except the movie magic here is all Mother Nature's own.
