Starts Wednesday: If the name Hatch Design suggests an incubator, you've got the concept behind the San Francisco firm whose success has garnered top professional honors. Among other kudos, it's made the list of "35 Most Sought-After Firms in America," and "Top 60 Branding Agencies in the U.S." Founded in 2007 by Wisconsin native Joel Templin, the firm turns out packaging, ads, promotions and other profile-enhancing concepts for American Eagle Outfitters, Apple, Coca-Cola, Starbucks and other companies. It also aims to "hatch" its own brands starting with JAQK Cellars, a playful wine. Templin is keynote speaker for the College of Visual Arts' annual design lecture series and the impresario behind its new exhibition. (Lecture at 7 p.m. Wed., $25, Minnesota History Center, 345 W. Kellogg Blvd., St. Paul. Exhibition opening at 6-8 p.m. Thu., free, CVA Gallery, 173 N. Western Av., St. Paul. Exhibition ends Oct. 9. www.cva.edu/about/leaders)
