2013-14 Jerome Emerging Artists Exhibition

Opening Friday: Expect photography, sculpture and a big dollop of quasi-autobiographical fiction in this exhibition of new work by winners of Jerome Foundation Emerging Artists fellowships. The show promises, among much else, a "ramshackle tower" in which artist Kjellgren Alkire will turn loose four fictitious guys exploring rural life, belief systems and their own "power-seeking male personae." Photographer Pao Houa Her, whose "Old School Photoshop" image is shown above, will present a "photographic poem" about her love/hate relationships with men. GraceMarie Keaton's photos apparently start as still lifes and evolve into objects with overlapping projected images. Robin Schwartzman concocts sculptures inspired by roadside kitsch, and Nate Young makes multimedia installations about the mutability of language in assorted cultural contexts.
