Opening: Since Ancient Traditions gallery closed last year, Twin Cities fans of American Indian art have eagerly awaited the opening of its successor, All My Relations Gallery, sponsored by the Native American Community Development Institute. Also located on E. Franklin Avenue, the new gallery debuts this weekend with an exhibit of never previously shown early paintings by Minnesota artist Frank Big Bear. "From the Rez, to the Hood, to the Lake" promises an informal survey of colorful imagery by the Ojibwe artist whose Pop-style work is a dynamic mash-up of traditional symbols, urban encounters and personal footnotes. With their vivid hues, crisp designs and mosaic patterns, Big Bear's paintings bring a lively modernity to accounts of contemporary Indian life. His "Autumn's Wind" is shown here. (Opening reception 5-9 p.m. Fri., free. All My Relations Gallery, 1414 E. Franklin Av., Mpls. 612-235-4976 or www.nacdi.org) MARY ABBE
