ARSENIC AND OLD LACE

Opening: Both headliners in the Guthrie Theater's latest production are fresh-from-Broadway veterans. Sally Wingert (late of "La Bête") and Kristine Nielsen ("Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson") star as murderous spinster sisters in Joseph Kesselring's farce, which opened on Broadway 70 years ago. The sisters, part of a crazy family that includes a fellow who thinks he is Teddy Roosevelt and an affianced theater critic, befriend lonely old men and do them in. The cast, directed by Joe Dowling, includes Bob Davis, Tyson Forbes, Nathaniel Fuller, Terry Hempleman and Kris L. Nelson. (7:30 p.m. Fri.-Sat., 1 p.m. Sun., 7:30 p.m. Tue.-Thu. Guthrie Theater, 818 S. 2nd St., Mpls. $24-$64. 612-377-2224 or guthrietheater.org.)

    THE GOSPEL ACCORDING TO JERRY

Opening: This new play by playwright Richard Krevolin and Rabbi Irwin Kula features actors Ryan Lindberg and Greta Oglesby. Lindberg plays Jerry, a divorced rabbi searching to fill a personal void, and Oglesby portrays Nia, a reserved woman desperate to lose weight. They intersect when Nia signs up for an overeaters' anonymous group led by Jerry. Haley Finn directs. Lindberg was just in "Goats" at Minnesota Jewish Theatre Company. Oglesby, well known for many years in the Twin Cities, makes her MJTC debut. (8 p.m. Sat., 1 p.m. Sun., 7:30 p.m. Wed.-Thu.; Hillcrest Center Theater, 1978 Ford Pkwy., St. Paul, $18-$26, 651-647-4315 or www.mnjewishtheatre.org.)

Egan (pictured), Miriam Must and David Roberts. (8 p.m. Fri.-Sat., Red Eye, 15 W. 14th St., Mpls. $8-$25, 612-870-0309 or redeyetheater.org)
