The second stop of the BASS Weekend Series was on Sunday (6/13/2010) held out of Wabasha, MN on pools 4 and 5 of the Mississippi River. Heading into this tournament I was very excited and eager to make up some ground in the points standing after a less than stellar finish event over a month ago.

My spirits and outlook for tournament day quickly got a jolt of adrenaline when I found out that my boater was a very, good river fisherman. After a quick talk with my boater, I found out that we were targeting largemouth in vegetation on Sunday. My top three rods for Sunday were going to be: · Wright & McGill Tessera 7'2" Frog Rod, Quantum Tour Edition 'Burner' reel, 65 lb. Power Pro and the Snag Proof Ish's Phat Frog · Wright & McGill Tessera 7' Rod, Quantum reel, 30 lb. Power Pro and a ¼ oz. RC Tackle Swim Jig · Wright & McGill Tessera 7'2" Jig/Worm Rod, Quantum Tour Edition 'Burner' reel, 20 lb. Seaguar TATSU and a ¼ oz. Tru-Tungsten weight in front of a 4/0 Eagle Claw HP Tube Hook with a tube on it The vegetation we were fishing was a combination of pads, grass and moss and it seemed the fish weren't locked down to one type of cover so we had to make as many casts as possible to cover a lot of water. My Quantum 'Burner' reel allowed me to quickly retrieve my lure after it was out of the strike zone. After cast after cast, I ended up with two keepers for the day for a weight of 4.52 lb.'s. Good enough for 32nd place, but it helped me move to 25th in the standings. There are three events remaining, but I'll only be able to fish two of them. So my hope is to remain in the top 40 and qualify for the year end regional tournament. I had some last minute excitement when I hooked up with a big fish with minutes left before we had to leave for weigh-in, but it turned out to be a big pike…oh well! Both of my keepers and numerous short bass came on my Snag Proof Ish's Phat Frog. This frog performed wonderfully as it was able to walk-the-dog right out of the package. Here is a short video detailing this new high performance frog from Snag Proof. I learned a great deal from my boater and had a fun day, which is what it is all about! The next Weekend Series event is back on pools 4 and 5 in July so I'll be ready for those bass. My next tournament is on Lake Ida for the second stop of the Big Bass Bonanza circuit on June 20th. I'll have my blog recapping that event as well. For more information on my tournaments or promotions, please check out www.fishglenn.com. Thanks and be safe on the water!
