Sports briefly: Ichiro Suzuki might rejoin Seattle Mariners

Could Ichiro Suzuki return home to Seattle? With Monday's announcement that Ben Gamel has a strained oblique and will miss four to six weeks, the Mariners need outfield help.

USA Today is reporting that the Mariners will bring back the 44-year-old Ichiro. He played for the Mariners from 2001-12, during which he was a 10-time All-Star selection and won 10 Gold Gloves.

• Outfielder Alejandro De Aza agreed to a minor league contract to return to the Nationals.

• Shortstop Paul DeJong agreed to a $26 million, six-year contract with the Cardinals.

Raiders release Aldon Smith

Aldon Smith, who reportedly was involved in a domestic violence incident with his fiancée over the weekend, was released by the Raiders. Smith checked himself into a rehabilitation facility while he was being sought by San Francisco police after he fled the scene when his fiancée called 911 on Saturday night. She reported to a police dispatcher around 8:30 p.m. that Smith was beating her up at her residence.

• The Cowboys placed the franchise tag on DeMarcus Lawrence, guaranteeing the Pro Bowl defensive end $17.5 million in 2018.

• Veteran cornerback Antonio Cromartie announced his retirement.

• Atlanta agreed to terms on a three-year contract with 43-year-old kicker Matt Bryant. Terms were not disclosed.

Former host files lawsuit against ESPN

Former ESPN host and legal analyst Adrienne Lawrence filed a lawsuit, primarily claiming "SportsCenter" host John Buccigross sexually harassed her during the two years she worked in Bristol, Tenn.

Lawrence claims ESPN did not address her complaints against Buccigross and believes she was let go last summer because she complained about the way was being treated.

ESPN announcer Chris Cotter is also accused of trying to kiss Lawrence but she rebuffed him, according to the suit. Former "SportsCenter" host Jonathan Coachman and Bomani Jones are also named in the complaint.

• The Walt Disney Co. chose its consumer products chief, James Pitaro, as the new ESPN president.
