It was his 54th in international play, tying the national record set by Gabriel Batistuta, according to Argentina's governing body. The Barcelona star also took over the Copa America scoring lead with his fourth goal of the tournament.
Argentina, 6-2-2 vs. the United States, now has two days to rest before playing. in Houston on Tuesday night. The Americans have been off since beating Ecuador on Thursday.
The other Copa America semifinal will match Colombia against Chile on Wednesday in Chicago, after defending champion Chile dismantled Mexico 7-0 Saturday night in Santa Clara, Calif. Eduardo Vargas scored four goals and Edson Puch added two as Mexico's best unbeaten streak in history ended in embarrassing fashion at 22 matches.

Pavel Datsyuk, who played 14 seasons for the Detroit Red Wings and won two Stanley Cups, announced he is heading home to play in the Russia-based Kontinental Hockey League. "My family and I are grateful for our time here in Detroit," said Datsyuk, who has one year left on his contract. "This was not an easy decision, but it's time for us to return home."
