American Nathan Chen became the first man to land five quadruple jumps in a performance at an ISU championship, winning the Four Continents on Sunday in Pyeongchang, South Korea.

Chen, 17, set international-best scores across the board, finishing with 307.46 points while holding off a challenge by Olympic champion Yuzuru Hanyu, who was first in Sunday's free skate.

"This feels great," said Chen, the U.S. champion. "I tried five quads today and I landed three of the five solidly. The other two were a little shaky, so that's something I need to improve on for the worlds."

Hanyu, third after the short program, was second overall with 303.71 points.

Gender issue in Texas

A 17-year-old Dallas-area high school transgender wrestler who is transitioning from female to male won a girls' regional championship Saturday after a female opponent forfeited the match.

Mack Beggs, a Euless Trinity High School junior who is undefeated this wrestling season, was granted a victory over Madeline Rocha in the 110-pound class of Class 6A.

A lawsuit has challenged whether Beggs should be eligible to compete against girls because she is taking testosterone while transitioning to male.
