A boater speeding on Lake Sylvia in central Minnesota capsized, sending himself and two boys with him into the water, authorities said.
The 10- and 7-year-old boys, who were wearing flotation devices, were quickly pulled from the water by onlookers; the body of the boat's operator was recovered late Monday morning, according to the Stearns County Sheriff's Office.
The man, 47-year-old Dale Steinemann of nearby Meire Grove, was not wearing a flotation device, said sheriff's chief deputy Bruce Bechtold.
The Sheriff's Office was alerted about 2:15 p.m. Sunday by a caller who said she and others heard a boat's motor "clearing the water," a statement from the law enforcement agency read. The witnesses saw the speedboat on its side and came to the aid of the boys.
The boys are the sons of Steinemann's girlfriend, authorities said.
