Severe weather will again impact the southern Plains today as an area of low pressure slowly moves eastward. Severe thunderstorms will rumble from western Kansas to central and eastern Texas, and these storms will bring the potential for damaging wind gusts in excess of 60 mph, torrential downpours, large hail, and isolated tornadoes. Travel will be impacted both by ground and through the air as the strongest storms approach Dallas and Houston during the afternoon.

Farther north across Oklahoma and Kansas, the storms will be slower to move eastward, resulting in the threat of severe weather anytime today. Anyone traveling on interstates 70, 35 or 40 will have to be prepared for a slower commute as thunderstorms impact these areas throughout the day.
