Less than two weeks after its video made it onto MTV2 -- the MTV channel that actually still plays music -- Minneapolis dance-rock group Solid Gold has been recruited to host the network's Sunday-night hipster show "Subterranean" this weekend. The band members will talk between videos by Julian Casablancas, Spoon and Hot Chip as well as their own "Matter of Time" clip during the hour-long episode, which airs locally at 1 a.m. (technically the wee hours of Monday).

This TV attention could provide a well-timed boost for Solid Gold as it heads back to the trendsetting South by Southwest Music Conference in Austin, Texas, in two weeks. Among its many SXSW gigs is a newly announced all-Minnesotan showcase co-sponsored by Best Buy, First Avenue and Vita.mn with other acts including Romantica, Lookbook and Jeremy Messersmith.
