While eastern parts of the United States continue to deal with summerlike heat, the West remains unseasonably chilly. In addition to the cool air, a storm system passing through the northern Rockies will dump more snow across the area. Snow will blanket the ground in parts of Idaho, Wyoming, Montana and southern Alberta.

The heaviest snow is expected along the eastern slopes of western Montana.

Areas around Cut Bank can expect over a foot of snow through Tuesday night.

Lighter snow accumulations are also expected across the Washington and Oregon Cascades.

The storm system will move off to the east Wednesday and Thursday, bringing an end to the heavy snow. Despite the dry weather, temperatures are not expected to rise significantly until the end of the week.
