Snocross racers readying to race at Canterbury Park

The AMSOIL Championship Snocross Series brings the Air Force Nationals to town on Friday and Saturday at Canterbury Park in Shakopee.

Nine Minnesota racers will compete in the event, which is the last race before the X-Games later this month in Colorado, including Levi LaVallee and Tucker Hibbert. Mike Schultz of Brainerd returns to the circuit after a 2008 accident that resulted in his left leg being amputated above the knee.

Tickets are $10 for kids 7 to 12 and $30 for adults when bought in advance. Tickets can be purchased online at www.isocracing.com. Parking is free.

Macalester hires coach Kate Ryan Reiling, captain of Macalester's 1998 national championship squad, will return to her alma mater as the new head women's soccer coach, the school announced. Ryan Reiling will begin her duties in March. She replaces John Leaney, who retired.

A three-time All-America midfielder, Ryan Reiling led Macalester to the NCAA Division III championship as a junior, and in her senior season she was selected MIAC Player of the Year as the Scots finished runner-up in the NCAA playoffs. She was a two-time team captain and was selected as the Final Four Offensive Player of the Tournament in '98.

She is No. 7 on the program's all-time goal scoring list with 30, and during her four seasons she helped the team go 76-9-3 overall and win three conference championships with 10-0 records.

Skate for free As part of National Skating Month, figure skating clubs around the Twin Cities are holding open houses with free skating, lessons and exhibitions by top skaters.

Sunday, the Figure Skating Club of Minneapolis will hold its open house at Augsburg College Ice Arena from 4-5:30 p.m.

Edina's Braemar-City of Lakes Figure Skating Club will hold its event Feb. 13 from 1:45-3:15 p.m. at Braemar Arena East.
