Since 2007, Las Vegas has been remarkably smart when it comes to the NFL

Our favorite gambling-related nugget of the week comes from R.J. Bell of Pregame.com and it is the exact reason you should NEVER bet on the NFL (unless, of course, it's a sure thing. WAIT! There is no such thing! But sometimes you just feel it ...). But yes, here is why it's so tough to bet on the NFL and why Vegas presumably makes a ton of money on it:

Last 5 NFL seasons (2007 onward): Favorites have covered 589 games, and Underdogs covered 589 games. (with 27 spread ties).

A perfect split over roughly 1,200 games? Wow. That, of course, was before Monday night's Chiefs-Patriots game. With a 31-point romp for the Patriots, the field has tilted ever-so-slightly to the favored teams.
