Shinsuke Yamanaka beats Diego Santillan to defend WBC bantamweight title in Osaka

OSAKA, Japan — Shinsuke Yamanaka knocked out Diego Santillan in the seventh round Thursday to defend his WBC bantamweight title.

Yamanaka sent the Argentine to the canvas with a left 36 seconds into the seventh round at Bodymaker Colosseum. It was Yamanaka's eighth defense of the title he first won in 2011.

The 32-year-old Japanese fighter improved to 23-0, including 17 KOs with two draws. Santillan fell to 23-1 (15 KOs).
