Is there a space in your home that makes you smile? A room or nook where you feel most yourself?

Don't keep it to yourself. Share it, by entering "My Favorite Room," a new contest feature in the Star Tribune's Sunday Homes section.

Your favorite room doesn't have to be a showcase of fine design. It can be fun or functional or downright quirky. We're looking for rooms with a personality — yours!

Here are just a few ideas to get you thinking. Your favorite room could be:

• A room set up to accommodate your favorite hobby or collectible.

• A room you created for or with a child — or to bring out your own inner child.

• A shrine to your favorite travel destination — or favorite sports team.

• A room where you came up with something clever, such as a smart way of organizing your stuff.

• A unique theme room.

• A room designed around your pet.

• The room where you relax and recharge, such as your personalized "man cave" or woman's retreat.

It's easy to share your favorite room: Just send a photo (snapshots are fine), along with a brief description of what makes your room special, to: myfavoriteroom@startribune.com.

We'll feature the winning rooms in upcoming Sunday Homes sections and online at www.startribune.com. Who knows? You might inspire someone to create their own favorite room. □

Joel KoyamaÔjkoyama@startribune.com "I Dream of Genie" room on the third level in Scott Weber's home. Scott Weber's home is an adventure. He's taken five end units of an apartment building he owns and created a theme-roomed showcase for his vintage collectibles. Rooms include a '50s diner, a tiki bar, a cowboy bedroom, a lounge that's an homage to the inside of Jeannie's bottle from the '60s sitcom "I Dream of Jeannie," a two-story courtyard inspired by Bourbon Street and an Art Deco stage.
Perhaps your favorite room is an homage to a favorite TV show or movie — or showcases your love for all things Mod. (The Minnesota Star Tribune)
Richard Elioff collects mid-century modern ('50s, '60s and '70s) furniture and accessories, and decorated his home as a groovy showcase for his Mod stuff. (Make sure to shoot the black-and-white geometric room, the '70s "Mod Room", the kitchen filled with black memorabilia and the bedroom). Also ask him to show you his favorite piece, his funky '50s Moss lamp in the living room, and get a detail shot of that lamp. He has other Moss lamps as well. May do a sidebar on Moss lamps.
