ST. PAUL, Minn. — Minnesota Attorney General Lori Swanson is accusing a state prison inmate of trying to defraud the state's Medical Assistance program.
Swanson's complaint in Ramsey County says Barbara Ann Currin, several family members and an associate set up a network of home health care agencies that filed for hundreds of thousands of dollars in payment for nursing and care services that were never delivered.
Currin pleaded guilty to Medical Assistance fraud in 2010 and had her nursing license revoked. She is held in the state prison in Shakopee.
Currin declined an interview request made through prison administrators.
